Sierra, José Ramón
Jose Ramon Sierra (Olivares, Seville, 1945) is a Spanish architect and painter with a great career as a teacher. Professor at the University of Seville, his multifaceted work has been seen in halls and galleries of the most important Spanish cities: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Seville, among others.
Sierra studied architecture in Seville and in Madrid. In 1972 he began teaching at the School of Architecture of Seville and in 1996 he was appointed Professor of Architectural Graphic Expression at the University of Seville. In addition, he has been visiting professor at numerous institutions and universitieslike the University of Puerto Rico, the University of Lisbon and the University of Salamanca.
José Ramón Sierra worked at Grupo Quince, and some of his works at COON ART were made there.
Grupo Quince was a studio and gallery, key within the scene graph contemporary Spanish that was born in the early 70's, responding to socio-cultural concerns of the moment as well as the emergence of artists experimenting with different printmaking techniques. For 14 years, “Grupo 15” provided a framework for the professional development of more than one hundred artists. Some of the artists who made their works in this studio were the artists of the movements "Dau al Set", "El Paso", Equipo Crónica, and many other internationally renowned that can be found at COON ART.
