Campano, Miguel Ángel

Miguel Angel Campano (Madrid, 1948), National Fine Arts Award, is one of the most important painters of his generation. His work within the abstraction has provided him international recognition.

Campano studied Architecture and Fine Arts in Madrid and Valencia. In the late 70s he moved to Paris and now alternates his time between the French capital and Mallorca. In 1996 he received the National Prize of Fine Arts.

He has participated in more than 100 solo exhibitions both in and outside Spain. His work is held in major museums and collections worldwide including the Museum of Spanish Abstract Art, British Museum, Fine Arts Museum of Bilbao, Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid, Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, Juan March Foundation in Madrid, Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno and Museum of Fine Arts in Álava, among others.

Campano  worked  at "Grupo Quince”, and some of his works at COON ART were made there.

“Grupo Quince” was a studio and gallery, key within the scene graph contemporary Spanish that was born in the early 70's, responding to socio-cultural concerns of the moment as well as the emergence of artists experimenting with different printmaking techniques. For 14 years, “Grupo 15” provided a framework for the professional development of more than one hundred artists. Some of the artists who made their works in this studio were the artists of the movements "Dau al Set", "El Paso", Equipo Crónica, and many other internationally renowned that can be found at COON ART.
